London - A Place For Everyone - NYE 23/24

At the turn of the year, tens of thousands were able to admire the spectacular multimedia firework show over the river Thames in London, which was created by the creative team around lighting designer Tim Routledge.

The show lasted for around 15 minutes and transformed the area around Big Ben and the London Eye into a colorful spectacle that was reflected on the surface of the river, creating a truly colorful display. With the title "London: A Place For Everyone", the audience was able to marvel at a show that emphasized the themes of community and cohesion. The show included more than 12,000 fireworks, a coordinated light show of 600 drones and 430 installed light fixtures and was described by Sadiq Khan, the Major of London, as the “best and biggest” new year’s eve show ever.

The creative minds behind the project relied on the multimedia show design and visualization software Depence during pre-production to present the most accurate and optimized result possible. With the help of Depence, the light show around the London Eye in particular was designed and modeled down to the smallest detail in the pre-visualization. This also applies to the moving gondolas of the Ferris wheel, which housed lighting fixtures and gave the show a very special dynamic as well as opportunities for the overall design. Depence was successfully used here, because it allows the holistic simulation of multimedia shows, including animated moving objects, so that the timing and effect of the show can be perfectly coordinated.
